Series 17 – Inflectional Ending /ed/ – 10 Decodable Books
Our Series 17 allows kids to gradually learn to read inflectional ending ed words. First, kids practice ed words with short vowels (ex. hopped, skipped, jumped). Next, kids can practice reading ed with silent e words (ex. hoped, skated, hiked). Lastly, our Series 17 allows kids to practice reading ed words with all vowel types. Kids learn that /ed/ makes 3 sounds: /t/ as in missed, /d/ as in hugged, and /id/ as in skated. This step-by-step progression allows kids to feel confident as they learn to read this often challenging sound pattern.
