Do you have a 1st grader that needs to work on reading fluency? Maybe you’re struggling to find content that captures your student’s attention. Many kids are fascinated by top predators, like wild cats. Perhaps your 1st grader is interested in jaguars. In this post, we’re offering a free fluency book for 1st graders on jaguars.
Are you mesmerized by jaguars? You can share your interest in jaguars with your student before reading the text. Jaguars are beautiful, strong and, with their golden eyes, have a mysterious gaze. While they’re not the largest wild cats, they have the strongest bite. Other wild cats may be able to swim, but jaguars, in contrast, love to swim. They swim to cool off and catch fish. They’re athletic, fierce animals. As top predators, they have mythical status to the natives of South America. In Amazonian mythology, the jaguar was the original holder of fire and a symbol of success in hunting.
