Consonant blends are 2 or more letter sounds in a row. For example, some consonant blends include br as in brick, sl as in sleep, _nd as in sand, bl as in blossom, and spr as in spring. There are many consonant blends. Kids should read them sound by sound and then blend them together. Eventually, they’ll say the string of letter sounds rapidly enough to pronounce the word with fluency and ease.
